A large and richly decorated ormolu bronze mantel clock on a white carrara marble base. The clock is embellished all around with bronze ornaments in Louis XVI style; a lidded coupe with a garland of oak leaf on top, tied bow and floral motives. The clockwork case is flanked by stately scrolls. The quality of the bronze casting and gilding is from a high and refined quality. The dial is made of enameled copper, with Roman and Arabic numerals. The clock movement is made and signed by Charpentier & Compagnie. It strikes every half hour on a bronze bell.

Charpentier & Compagnie operated in Paris from around 1870 to 1890. They are especially well-known for their clock and garniture sets, as well as for their works of bronze. They won a Gold Medal at the Exposition “Universelle” in Paris in 1878, where they exhibited mantel clocks, garnitures, candelabra, torcheres and vases.The clock movement has been serviced and tested by our professional clockmaker.
